Winnie Foster, meets and falls in love with a young man, Jesse Tuck, who is part of a family of immortals. She becomes attached to the family and they to her. She is tempted to take a drink from the same "fountain of youth" that the Tucks inadvertently discovered. To Winnie, eternal youth sounds like a wonderful prospect, but the Tucks, especially the parents, have come to understand it is as much a curse as a blessing.
